Nothing But Net Drive Base
For our robot we wanted a robot at max dimentions (18x18x18) the reasons for this are so we have as much room possible for a large intake to pick up alot of balls. We are also using 4 omni wheels with a 1-1 ratio, we plan to code the base on a single joystick to leave extra buttons and the other joystick for other purposes.
we decided to only do a 2 motor drive base for room and also so we can use extra motors for the flywheel. We eneded up only maxing out at 6motors but thats all we really need for this robot. We are going to run out motors at 127; speed amd hope they wont overheat. We are using chains to attach the rear motors to the fron wheels so all 4 wheels will turn and hopefully prevent wheelies.
Here are some more photo’s of our base, we have multiple angled shots.
we plan to build the flywheel on the two suport pars we have mounted already, and also to finish adding the other rollers with guides. We have been looking at pervious videos for Nothing But Net and have found that flywheels seem tp be the most efficient design out of all. Most teams have used 2-3 wheels on their flywheel in the past, and we plan to test and see wich amount would work the best. We are planning on also having a puncher for preloads depending on the spacing and accuracy of the flyuwheel. The punchers seem to be more consistant that flywheels at long range.
For next year
I also started designing the cubes for nextyear in 123D so we can test before the season opening in September. We are planning to design in the summer and start building after summer.
